Making Tax Digital
doesn’t have to be stressful.
From April 2026, many sole traders and landlords will need to keep digital records and submit updates to HMRC every quarter. We help you get organised, stay compliant and avoid the last-minute panic.
Your MTD year, sorted
No January scramble. Just steady, digital records all year round.
One of the biggest changes to self assessment in years
Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax changes how sole traders and landlords report to HMRC. If your combined self-employment and property income is over £50,000, from April 2026 HMRC will require you to:
- keep digital records of your income and expenses
- use MTD-compatible software
- submit quarterly updates to HMRC
- complete a final declaration each year
From April 2027, this is expected to extend to those earning over £30,000 too.
At TAG Accountancy, we help sole traders and landlords get ready now — before the deadlines and panic start. We keep things straightforward and explain everything in plain English.

Why people struggle with MTD
Many people think MTD is “just another tax return”. It isn’t. Instead of filing once a year, you’ll potentially be reporting to HMRC five times a year.
The common problems we see:
- Mixing personal and business spending
- Missing receipts
- Incorrect bookkeeping categories
- Using spreadsheets that don't meet HMRC rules
- Leaving everything until the deadline
That’s where we come in.
Straightforward support without the jargon
We know bookkeeping and tax can feel overwhelming. Our job is to make things simpler, not more complicated.
No confusing accountant-speak. No judgement. Just support that helps you stay on track.
You’ll get
- Practical advice

- Help from real people
